‘Sleeping Bunnies’ Nursery Rhyme Large Sequence Cards. Useful for an interactive display focusing on ordering events, or an activity with an individual child or large group. The cards could be used as a sequencing activity or teaching prompts to learn the nursery rhyme and focus on its content through visual aids. Younger children will love to explore the rhythm and rhyme of this nursery rhyme and join in, especially with the aid of visual stimulus. Pirate Treasure Hunt Clue Cards designed for you to fill in and place small treasure cards (included) around your setting before game begins. Simply print out the cards that you would like to use (looking carefully at the sentence starter wording at the top of each card) and then write in clues which fit with your setting and children. We designed this activity with following instructions and positional language in mind and so it is intended that you read the cards to the children. Some suggestions for clue writing are included on the first page. We suggest that you hide the second clue with the first small treasure card to be found so that a chain is created. Poppy themed counting puzzles. Select those appropriate for your children (1-10 available) and allow them to match the number with the corresponding number of poppies. Each pair has a different way of connecting as a puzzle for the children to match and so even if they haven’t learnt what the number looks like yet, but are beginning to say the numbers in order, this can be a fun way to introduce them to new challenges. Once the puzzles are complete, why not line the numbers up in order and count together? If your children would enjoy a further game, leave out a number and see if they can spot which one is missing from the sequence. Puzzles could also be used as a fine motor control/counting activity if left uncut. Children could be given an appropriate number for their learning and encouraged to place objects on the poppies, counting as they go.

This booklet is intended as an extension to space themed role-play.

Either before or after space themed play children may enjoy mark making/drawing/writing about their experiences. Perhaps they may explore a really cold planet and draw what they think it looks like. What things might they really need on their trip to this planet? Perhaps they could experiment with some emergent writing to create a list of these things or labels?

At the top of each inner page there is a box for you or the children to write the day number. This will aid in the development of number recognition, formation and ordering.

The porthole images to the top right of the pages may simply be interpreted as decoration, however they could also be used as inspiration as to what you may be exploring that day!

Colour mixing experiment sheets with a star theme.

For example, paint the first star yellow and the second red. Then mix the two colours together and paint the bottom star in the resulting orange colour.

You may want to repeat this for a few different mixtures and make a ‘Colour Mixing’ display. Equally, the resulting stars could be cut out and used for further art work.
