Children with Special Educational Needs and Disability can often experience the world in a different way to most. Children with sensory processing difficulties may over- or under-respond to sensory information their bodies receive. It can also sometimes be difficult for these children to express their feelings concerning this.
This resource is intended to help children and their parents/carers/teachers identify, assess and monitor children’s feelings about and responses to sound, smell, taste, temperature, light and touch.

Name signs for all of your individual children to enable them to sign themselves in by moving their name from the ‘At home’ column to the ‘Here’ column. Faded images behind children’s names gives them an added way to recognise their particular name card allowing for greater independence.
This resource pack is easily adapted for any setting. For example the youngest children will get used to recognising their name & picture combination and moving it to the correct place with help. Children soon love the responsibility of doing this independently. Excellent tool for encouraging children to recognise their name before attending school and ideal for use in school to consolidate that knowledge and encourage independence.

Ideal for use within a classroom or preschool environment (but also adaptable as an individual resource for slightly younger children). Each child can colour in a set of footprints individually and then add their name (or have it added for them). After, the footprints can be placed along a classroom floor for lining up and every day they line up they are looking at their name. Visual Timetables
These cards can be used to build a setting/classroom timetable for a group of children. (100 cards included!)
The cards are designed to be cut & laminated and displayed in time order using Velcro or Blue Tac in a childcare/teaching setting such as a school classroom, nursery/preschool room or childminding setting.
We have created a wide variety of cards but have also included four blank templates at the end of the pack for you to create your own.

This display is intended to be an interactive self-registration display that can evolve throughout the day. The children can find and add their names to the emoji that expresses how they are feeling at the start of the day and then they are encouraged to change the position of their name as they see fit as the day progresses.
An adult can quickly check to see how the group is feeling and follow up on anyone who may have indicated that they are sad, angry, etc.

These playdough mats are perfect for gaining an insight into the day to day feelings of those in your care. Useful as a tool to explore feelings 1:1 with a child. However, they may be especially useful as a fine motor activity within a setting/school which also allows adults to tell at a glance the feelings of children within a group. This could be a particularly beneficial tool in assessing the feelings of those settling into a new setting. In addition, it aids in the mindfulness practice of recognising emotions.

Emoji Emotion Cards to be used for a variety of purposes. They can be used as part of a display, given to individual children to enable them to voluntarily express their feelings or as a way to respond to adult questioning in discussions about how various situations may make us feel (1:1 or group). They could be used in whole class, group or 1:1 to prompt role play depicting situations which evoke a specific emotion and this can then lead to discussions about how to deal with the emotion in question.

This display/activity is intended to help the child/children identify their emotions and the experiences that trigger those emotions.
At the start of the day, one emotion is to be highlighted and discussed with the children. The children are then encouraged to tell someone if they think they experience that emotion during the day. The aim is for the children to become more introspective of their emotions, and more perceptive of the emotions of others.
As a group activity the children have the chance to learn from their peer’s experiences as well as their own.
Pack includes:
• Changeable display banner with space for different ‘Emotion of the day’ cards.
• Emotion of the day display cards for happy, sad, excited, worried, angry, confused, scared, surprised.
• Small A6 emotion cards to be placed around the setting as a reminder of the ‘Emotion of the day’.

Heart and Star shaped ‘Kind to me’ certificates/notes. Children may be encouraged to think (for example on a Friday) about who has been kind to them during that week.
