The card templates on this page are intended as a starting point for creativity, art and craft and thinking about the feelings and opinions of others.
The children can be encouraged to…
Select a card which they feel their intended receiver would like. (Thinking about the opinions/likes/dislikes of others.)
Personalise the card with their own mark making/drawings.
Colour the card or use art and craft materials to decorate it.
Think of what they would like to say to the person the card is for.
Tell an adult what they would like to say so that the adult may scribe this for them or older children may begin to make marks which resemble letters and words themselves.
Practice writing their name so that they may sign the card themselves! (Younger children could even sign the card with a finger or hand print!)
Please note that some may also find this page useful in order to organise cards from your setting to individual children who attend e.g. for birthdays!
Larger Cards/Posters
In addition, we have also started to create some A4 poster designs. One use of these templates is for the entire poster (or elements from within it) to be cut and glued onto a folded piece of A3 card in order to make a large greetings card. This could be especially useful for larger settings where a card could be collaboratively made and signed by all children and staff to be sent home to one child or member of staff. We are in the process of making more of these posters available.
