🌿 Using festivals and celebrations in practice

Our festival and celebration resources are not intended as a checklist or compulsory curriculum. Instead, materials can be used thoughtfully to:

  • build children’s understanding of the world

  • promote inclusion, respect and belonging

  • support meaningful conversations about family, tradition and community

  • link learning to children’s real-life experiences

Many settings choose to focus on:

  • celebrations represented within their community

  • events that arise naturally through children’s interests

  • a small number of festivals explored in greater depth
