Presents from practitioners to children in their care

Presents/Gifts

The following story frames are each designed for the names of the children and adults in your setting to be added to create a personalised story. The chosen story could then be laminated to give to the children as a seasonal gift (or just be read to the group and enjoyed)!

To accommodate different sizes of settings, the number of names that can be added is variable but add names in wherever works for your setting! For smaller settings you can always repeat names.

(Please note that due to the editable nature of this resource, it is only available in word docx file format.)

Gift Tags/Stickers

The following 2 packs contain labels ideal for your festive gifts! 2 pages ready to print onto sticker sheets from your printer. Choose the page you would like to make into stickers. The first page says ‘Happy Christmas!’ or ‘Enjoy the Holidays!’ and the second says ‘Happy Christmas! Love from…’ or ‘Enjoy the Holidays! Love from…’ (with a space to enter the sender’s name).

This sticker sheet pack is compatible with Avery Label Sizes:

J8160 - Inkjet

L7160 - Laserjet

(Please note that due to the editable nature of this resource, it is only available in word docx file format.)

Presents & Cards from children to their families

Presents/Gifts

1.

These templates (9 designs included) have basic or detailed outlines of festive shapes to be used as a starting point for an art activity.

The outlines can be coloured, painted, or collaged to create an individual poster design to be given to a child’s loved one. At the top of the poster is space for a festive message!

2.

Use the following ‘New Year Calendar’ templates to create an incredibly useful gift from a child to their family member(s). The child can not only give their family something which will be useful for the whole of the coming year, but also personalise it to make it a very sentimental gift. Especially as families will be able to look back at this gift in years to come and see what their child had made for them for a specific year and therefore how old they were.

There are so many different options for personalisationa drawing of the child and their family, a hand or foot print, something the child hopes to do during the year, finger painting, use of craft materials to make a festive picture such as crumpled up tissue paper balls to make a snowman or Christmas tree, a festive message, a short sentence or word, e.g. ‘To mummy and daddy, I love you!’

(Calendars below Now updated for 2024 dates!)

3.

Use this acrostic poem template to create a Christmas gift from children in your care to their families. You may like to work one to one with a child to develop their understanding of initial sounds and scribe their ideas for them.

4.

With the aid of the following border sheets, encourage your child(ren) to make marks, draw pictures or even write a short sentence or story for their families. For example the child could:

  • Do a drawing of themselves with their family.

  • Write a short sentence such as ‘I love you.’

  • Create a hand or footprint in paint with the date written by it to look back at in future years.

  • Make up a short story (with an adult’s help). The adult could then write this down. The child may want to draw pictures to illustrate.

  • Use craft materials to create a festive picture.

5.

Perhaps your children would like to colour or use art and craft materials to decorate the pictures in this pack of ‘Nativity Story Sequence’ colouring sheets. They could then be read with the children and placed in order and even presented in a book format as a gift to family members.

6.

Use any of the following colouring sheets as the basis of a festive gift from children to their families. The children may like to add their own messages which an adult could scribe for them.

Cards

Use any of the following card templates as the basis of a festive card from children to their families. The children may like to add their own messages which an adult could scribe for them.

Any of the cards below could be coloured, painted or collaged to create an individual card design to be given to a child’s loved one.
