EYFS & KS1 Transition Printable Resources & Support
Early Years Activities, Invitations, Transition Packs & Pedagogy Guidance
Transition periods can be exciting, emotional and sometimes challenging for young children, families and practitioners. Whether children are moving between Early Years settings, starting school, settling into Reception, or preparing for the transition into Year 1, thoughtful support can make a significant difference to children’s confidence, wellbeing and sense of security.
Our EYFS and KS1 Transition Resources have been carefully created to support smooth, child-centred transitions through play-based, developmentally appropriate practice. This collection includes printable transition activities, ‘All About Me’ resources, handover documents, school readiness materials, parent partnership packs, emotional wellbeing resources, observation and assessment templates, and professional pedagogy guidance for babies, toddlers, preschool and Reception children.
Designed for nurseries, preschools, childminders, schools and families, these Early Years transition resources help practitioners build strong relationships, support emotional wellbeing, encourage communication with parents and create positive starts for every child. Many resources are available in both editable and PDF formats, making them practical and flexible for everyday use in EYFS and KS1 settings.

As well as part of an ‘All About Me’ topic to be completed at any time, these sheets are ideal for use during transitions. There are two sheets. The first is ideal to be completed by an adult alongside a child and the second by the child.
If you have a child who is moving to another setting or transitioning to school, you may like to fill this in with them to pass on to the next teacher/practitioner.
Equally, if you are a reception teacher about to receive a new cohort, you may like to send this home in advance of your new children starting with you.

It can often be difficult for children (and anyone) to deal with feelings of worry and anxiety. Once these feelings become overwhelmingly strong, it can be difficult to get passed them.
These 2 sheets are designed for children and adults to discuss what helps a particular child to feel happy when they are worried. This could be things like cuddling a particular soft toy, colouring, playing Lego, reading a book, etc. Once strategies have been decided, the child could make marks in the box(es) that will remind them of this strategy when they need to use it. Alternatively, adults may create picture prompts to place in the box(es).
