Which colours can you spot? Why not be creative with this resource?…
If at home, perhaps watching a firework display (outside or from a window), encourage your child(ren) to look out for the colours on the chart and tick them off as they see them.
Alternatively, watch a recording of a fireworks display and even hit pause to discuss and identify the colours you see.
For a more physical sensory experience, why not create objects to represent fireworks in a tuff spot or on a trail around your setting/home in the appropriate colours? Children can then tick them off as they find each colour.
If your children need extending, consider an element of counting and perhaps even tally mark making.

Why not use this sheet as inspiration for role-play? Encourage your child(ren) to place items into a pot/cauldron to make a magic spell. What items/ingredients are they placing in? How much of each? What will the magic spell do? Encourage mark making/writing on the spell sheet as you go or at the end once the potion is complete. Differentiate by what you expect from your child(ren), e.g. ranging from your child(ren) coming up with ideas whilst you write them down, encouraging your child(ren) to sound out and write words/sentences, introducing ordering words such as first, next, finally, etc. Try making it more exciting with descriptive words, e.g. instead of ‘worms’ write e.g. ‘wiggly worms’.

During the first Hanukkah a group of Jewish warriors called the Maccabees reclaimed a Temple that had been taken from them. They then proudly lit the candles of the menorah as a sign of their faith. This activity is designed to encourage children to think about what pride is and identify something about themselves that they are proud of. Are they kind? Are they helpful? Are they a good friend? Encourage your children to colour the objects and count them as they go (1 to 20). Ideal sheets to practise 1:1 correspondence counting (where children place their fingers on the objects as they count them). Also great for learning written numbers and knowledge of items within a particular topic. Children may even enjoy using these as posters to create a themed numberline on their playroom/bedroom wall!

Ideal as part of 'Spring' or ‘Minibeasts’ topic. This 'Draw what you can see' sheet can be laminated and used in conjunction with whiteboard pens (perhaps placed near a window overlooking your outdoor area/garden) for children to use over and over again to practise drawing what they see. Alternatively you could print out individual copies for the children to draw their own wildlife to take home. To be used in setting or during out and about adventures!

Engage your children in counting play by enlisting their help to create their own ‘Minibeasts’ puzzle set. Select those appropriate for your children (1-10 available) and allow them to colour the images and numbers. The puzzles may then be cut out (you can decide whether to work on scissor skills with your child or pre-cut the puzzles). Then encourage your children to have fun playing with their own puzzles! Each pair has a different way of connecting as a puzzle for the children to match and so even if they haven’t learnt what the number looks like yet, but are beginning to say the numbers in order, this can be a fun way to introduce them to new challenges. Once the puzzles are complete, why not line the numbers up in order and count together? If your children would enjoy a further game, leave out a number and see if they can spot which one is missing from the sequence. Puzzles could also be used as a fine motor control/counting activity if left uncut. Children could be given an appropriate number for their learning and encouraged to place objects on the minibeasts, counting as they go.

Minibeast themed tally chart. Your children will love to use this as part of an out and about hunt activity (for example searching for minibeasts in your outdoor area) or in conjunction with a 'Minibeasts' themed tuff spot or feely bag. Use as a Tally Chart or Check List. Differentiate expectations for individual children within your care. Some children may simply use it as a visual cue whilst others may begin to make marks resembling tally lines or even numbers. Alternatively ask your children ‘Which is your favourite minibeast?’ and collect the results as a group. Which minibeast has the most votes? Perhaps use in conjunction with our ‘Minibeast Pictogram Chart Activity’.
