We have created this game to inspire conversations about the concept of weight. Children can place a card in one of the boxes and then attempt to place an appropriate card (in comparison to the first) in the other box. E.g. they may select an object they think of as ‘heavy’ in the first box and then find a card showing an object they think is ‘lighter’ than that object in the second box. If you have scales in your setting, why not develop this activity further? Perhaps you could begin weighing objects in your setting and draw them into the boxes? Display the finished products as a reminder for the concept or send the posters home to discuss further/allow the child to ’teach’ family members which will further consolidate the concept in a child’s mind.

Why not set up an invitation to play using these ‘Farm Animals and their Young’ counting puzzles? Select those appropriate for your children (1-10 available) and allow them to match the number beside the adult with the corresponding number of young animals.
Each pair has a different way of connecting as a puzzle for the children to match and so even if they haven’t learnt what the number looks like yet, but are beginning to say the numbers in order, this can be a fun way to introduce them to new challenges. In addition each puzzle matches the adult and young and so this allows for another method of self checking.
Once the puzzles are complete, why not line the numbers up in order and count together? If your children would enjoy a further challenge, leave out a number and see if they can spot which one is missing from the sequence.
Puzzles could also be used as a fine motor control/counting activity if left uncut. Children could be given an appropriate number for their learning and encouraged to place objects on the baby animals, counting as they go.
In addition, each number is also written as a word. For our youngest children, this adds to learning about text in the environment and how it has meaning. Our oldest children may start to recognise the words and associate them with the numbers. This will be beneficial for when they begin to read and write these words in subsequent years as they will have something to build on.

Why not use this fun farm animals and their young puzzle game to introduce your children to or consolidate their knowledge of farm animals? Cut each puzzle along the line in the middle and invite your children to match each farm animal with its offspring. Why not extend learning by discussing similarities and differences between the older and younger animals and also between the different types of animals? Extend children’s vocabulary by describing animal body parts such as tail, hooves, paws, fur, snout, etc. Ask questions such as ‘Which animal has the longest/shortest tail?’

The aim of this game is to encourage the link between images and specific repeatable sounds (Phase 1 Phonics/Letters & Sounds).
• Choose a game piece (either the tractors supplied or use counters/small world characters of your own)
• Roll the dice (choose dice with numbers appropriate for your children)
• Move your game piece along the board
• Make the right noise for the square you land on
• First to the finish is the winner!

Pirate Treasure Hunt Clue Cards designed for you to fill in and place small treasure cards (included) around your setting before game begins. Simply print out the cards that you would like to use (looking carefully at the sentence starter wording at the top of each card) and then write in clues which fit with your setting and children. We designed this activity with following instructions and positional language in mind and so it is intended that you read the cards to the children. Some suggestions for clue writing are included on the first page. We suggest that you hide the second clue with the first small treasure card to be found so that a chain is created. The ultimate aim is to find the treasure chest!

Have fun with this set of 10 Pirates Activity Challenge cards. Perhaps children could stand in a circle around the pile of cards and take turns to pick one for everyone to do. Once the children get to know the cards they will be able to relate the action to the picture without necessarily needing the card read to them...For example an adult may be able to simply hold up a card and everyone will be able to do the activity together! Great for physical development, descriptive language, understanding the world, number recognition and turn taking.

We suggest that you place the A4 lights back to back so that one way they show the green person walking lit and the other way they show the red person standing lit. You can then role play with the children pressing the button and then waiting for the green man. An adult can then flip the sign from red to green after an appropriate amount of time. Don’t forget to remind children to only cross the road when holding hands with an adult. You may like to include this in your role-play.

‘Signs of Spring’ cards. Ideal for use as part of a Spring display to visually highlight the changes that happen following Winter. Cards can also be used as a great stimulus for communication and language. When used as part of a display or offered as part of an invitation to play children may initiate communication to you or other children about the cards in a child led fashion. Alternatively, adult led interaction could include closed or open ended questioning. Younger children may point to familiar objects when prompted e.g. ‘Where’s the tree?’ and learn new words as you describe to them what is in the picture. Have fun with this set of 8 Spring Activity Challenge cards. Perhaps children could stand in a circle around the pile of cards and take turns to pick one for everyone to do. Once the children get to know the cards they will be able to relate the action to the picture without necessarily needing the card read to them...For example an adult may be able to simply hold up a card and everyone will be able to do the activity together!
