We think this is is catchy phrase which could be helpful when promoting hygiene in the early years. Obviously the best thing for us all to do is to catch a sneeze or cough in a tissue which can be disposed of, but it can be difficult for adults to grab a tissue in time, let alone young children. This poster aims to give children practical advice in the form of a memorable phrase. We hope you find it helpful!

‘Signs of Summer’ cards. Ideal for use as part of a Summer display to visually highlight the changes that happen following Spring. Cards can also be used as a great stimulus for communication and language. When used as part of a display or offered as part of an invitation to play children may initiate communication to you or other children about the cards in a child led fashion. Alternatively, adult led interaction could include closed or open ended questioning. Younger children may point to familiar objects when prompted e.g. ‘Where’s the tree?’ and learn new words as you describe to them what is in the picture. As children progress, more ground may be covered such as ‘What colours can you see?’, ‘How many ice creams are there in this picture?’, ‘Which is your favourite card?’, ‘Why do you like this picture the best?’, ‘What do you think this tree would look like in the Winter?’, ‘Have you seen any of these signs of Summer?’, ‘Where?’, ‘When?’, ‘Who were you with?’, ‘Shall we go outside and see which of them we can find?’

Have fun with this set of 8 Summer Activity Challenge cards. Perhaps children could stand in a circle around the pile of cards and take turns to pick one for everyone to do. Once the children get to know the cards they will be able to relate the action to the picture without necessarily needing the card read to them...For example an adult may be able to simply hold up a card and everyone will be able to do the activity together! For those children who are exceptionally engaged, these cards explored in sequence could even be set to music as a dance performance! Great for physical development, descriptive language, understanding the world and turn taking.

‘Our Favourite/Favorite Sandwiches’ Pictogram Chart is designed for children to not only think about their favourite sandwich, but also realise that others may not have the same favourite. In addition, children begin to learn about simple graphs and charts.
Ideal for use in a classroom, preschool, nursery or childminder setting. Children do not have to necessarily complete the activity at the same time, but a chart can be added to a display and individual children can add their own favourites at appropriate times.
Simply place the large sandwich images in a horizontal line to form the base of the chart and children can add their own favourite smaller sandwich above to create the vertical lines of a chart.
The lengths of the lines can be compared and number of sandwiches on each can be counted to find totals. Questions such as ‘How many children like ham and cheese?’ may be asked. To really extend mathematical thinking, questions such as ‘How many more children like salad than the jam?’ could be delved into.

Have great fun with your children whilst all acting out Winter sights with this set of 8 Winter Activity Challenge cards. Perhaps children could stand in a circle around the pile of cards and take turns to pick one for everyone to do. Cards could equally be shrunk down and placed on a key ring to take out on adventures or featured on an indoor or outdoor display board and referred to with everyone carrying out the activity on floor space in front. Once the children get to know the cards they will be able to relate the action to the picture without necessarily needing the card read to them...For example an adult may be able to simply hold up a card and everyone will be able to do the activity together! For those children who are exceptionally engaged, these cards explored in sequence could even be set to music as a dance performance! Great for physical development, descriptive language, understanding the world and turn taking.

Each of the pages with a different weather type have an image and a suggestion for interaction with him/her. Enjoy exploring the book together and noticing which pages he/she likes the most.
Perhaps you could even place the pages in order of which ones they like the best. For example, you could place the ones with least reaction from your baby at the beginning and the ones with the most positive reaction at the end, hopefully culminating at the end with your baby smiling, laughing and/or giggling! Why not use this fun zoo animals and their footprints puzzle game to introduce your children to or consolidate their knowledge of zoo animals? Cut each puzzle along the line in the middle and invite your children to match each zoo animal with its footprint. Why not extend learning by discussing similarities and differences between the different footprints? Extend children’s vocabulary by describing animal body parts such as tail, hooves, paws, fur, beaks, etc. Ask questions such as ‘Which animal has the longest/shortest neck?’
