This hedgehog subitising (subitizing) game encourages children to spot the hedgehogs with the appropriate number of dots (in different formations). ‘How quickly can we match all of the hedgehogs to the correct piles of cosy leaves?’
You may want to add an element of challenge with a timer, e.g. ‘Can we get all of the hedgehogs to their safe hiding spots before the timer runs out?’ (We would advise beginning without a timer and then only adding this element to progress the game once children are becoming confident. Start with a time which is definitely achievable.)
Choose the appropriate pack for your child(ren): Subitising to 3, 5 or 10. Other 2 packs available here.

Have great fun with your children whilst all pretending to be fairies with this set of 6 Fairy Activity Challenge cards.
Perhaps children could stand in a circle around the pile of cards and take turns to pick one for everyone to do. Cards could equally be shrunk down and placed on a key ring to take out on adventures or featured on an indoor or outdoor display board and referred to with everyone carrying out the activity on floor space in front.
Once the children get to know the cards they will be able to relate the action to the picture without necessarily needing the card read to them...For example an adult may be able to simply hold up a card and everyone will be able to do the activity together!
Great for physical development, descriptive language, imagination, understanding the world and turn taking.

Why not set up an invitation to play using these heart puzzles? Select those appropriate for your children (1-20 available) and allow them to match the number with the corresponding number of hearts.
Each pair has a different way of connecting as a puzzle for the children to match and so even if they haven’t learnt what the number looks like yet, but are beginning to say the numbers in order, this can be a fun way to introduce them to new challenges.
Once the puzzles are complete, why not line the numbers up in order and count together?
If your children would enjoy a further game, leave out a number and see if they can spot which one is missing from the sequence.
Puzzles could also be used as a fine motor control/counting activity if left uncut. Children could be given an appropriate number for their learning and encouraged to place objects on the hearts, counting as they go.

Autumn themed subitising posters which may also be used as mats. Each poster (1-6) displays the numeral on a central tree. Surrounding the tree are sycamore seeds, conkers, a hedgehog with dots and a dice which each subitise the number in different ways. In the top left corner we have also featured an autumn leaf with the number written in word form.

Have great fun with your children whilst all acting out Autumn sights with this set of 8 Autumn Activity Challenge cards. For those children who are exceptionally engaged, these cards explored in sequence could even be set to music as a dance performance! Great for physical development, descriptive language, understanding the world and turn taking.

Ideal as part of an 'Autumn' topic. These Autumn themed Snap cards (1-10) can be printed, cut out and laminated to consolidate children's recognition of numbers and Autumn themed objects! Also why not use them to create addition and/or subtraction number sentences?...E.g. place the cards on the floor '4 (bats)' + '1 (fox)' = how many objects all together? (Children can use 1:1 correspondence counting to physically count all of the objects.) For a more robust design, try backing them on card. (Word cards available to help with children's subject knowledge).

Why not set up an invitation to play using these ‘Feed the Sparrow’ counting puzzles? Select those appropriate for your children (1-10 available) and allow them to match the number beside the sparrow with the corresponding number of hazelnuts to feed them.
If your children would enjoy a further challenge, leave out a number and see if they can spot which one is missing from the sequence.
Puzzles could also be used as a fine motor control/counting activity if left uncut. Children could be given an appropriate number for their learning and encouraged to place objects on the hazelnuts, counting as they go.
In addition, each number is also written as a word. For our youngest children, this adds to learning about text in the environment and how it has meaning. Our oldest children may start to recognise the words and associate them with the numbers. This will be beneficial for when they begin to read and write these words in subsequent years as they will have something to build on.

Have great fun with your children whilst all pretending to be dinosaurs with this set of 8 Dinosaur Activity Challenge cards. Great for physical development, descriptive language, understanding the world and turn taking.

Primarily designed for use as a mat to be laminated and used time and time again with whiteboard pens for children to practise their number formation, this resource has many uses. It could be used by a child once and taken home as a consolidation of their learning. It could be used as part of a Dinosaurs and/or Maths display. Place it in a learning area where children may be writing numbers as a reminder of how to form numbers. Or alternatively use it as a playdough mat.

Dinosaur Footprint number line activity from 0 to 10 or 0 to 20. (Both versions included in file.) Print, cut (and laminate if desired) the footprints for a fun floor activity that reinforces number recognition and ordering to ten/twenty. (Take care as to what surface you place the footprints on as children may wish to step on them pretending to be dinosaurs!) Children start the number line with the ‘0’ at the bottom and think about the next number needed until they reach the ‘Roar!’ at the end at number ‘10’ and ‘20’. Extend children further by taking a number out of the completed line and asking children to work out which is missing. Of course these dinosaur footprints 0-20 once cut out could have many other applications. For example why not try hiding them in the garden/outdoor area or in a sand pit for the children to find and identify the numbers? Perhaps you could challenge your children to place the correct number of objects on each footprint?

When you print this PDF you should have the option to print more than one number to a page which would allow you to make the numbers smaller if desired.
p2-11: Numbers
p12-13: Symbols

Fun scavenger hunt game for in or outdoors!
Fairy cards (Minibeast Fairy, Water Fairy, Tree Fairy, Fruit Fairy, Flower Fairy & Earth Fairy) are designed to be hidden for children to find.
You may like to simply encourage your children to search until they find all six fairies.
Alternatively (or after), for an additional challenge, you may like to draw children’s attention to the colours, shapes and numbers on each card. Why not challenge your children to find the card with a specific shape on it? We have also included sets of cards with the relevant numbers, shapes and colours on within the pack, in order that you may select a card to give you a particular child or they may self select a challenge for themselves. These cards are ideal for children who require picture aids for non-verbal communication.
The cards also allow plenty of opportunity for communication and language development and observation skills looking at the key similarities and differences between each fairy.

Why not set up an invitation to play using these ‘Butterfly Counting Puzzles’?
Select those appropriate for your children (1-10 available) and allow them to match the number with the corresponding number of butterflies.
If your children would enjoy a further challenge, leave out a number and see if they can spot which one is missing from the sequence.
Puzzles could also be used as a fine motor control/counting activity if left uncut. Children could be given an appropriate number for their learning and encouraged to place objects on the butterflies, counting as they go.

Encourage your children to colour the objects and count them as they go (1 to 20). Ideal sheets to practise 1:1 correspondence counting (where children place their fingers on the objects as they count them). Also great for learning written numbers and knowledge of items within a particular topic. Children may even enjoy using these as posters to create a themed numberline on their playroom/bedroom wall!

Why not set up an invitation to play using these ‘Bee Counting Puzzles’?
Select those appropriate for your children (1-10 available) and allow them to match the number with the corresponding number of bees.
If your children would enjoy a further challenge, leave out a number and see if they can spot which one is missing from the sequence.
Puzzles could also be used as a fine motor control/counting activity if left uncut. Children could be given an appropriate number for their learning and encouraged to place objects on the bees, counting as they go.
In addition, each number is also written as a word. For our youngest children, this adds to learning about text in the environment and how it has meaning. Our oldest children may start to recognise the words and associate them with the numbers. This will be beneficial for when they begin to read and write these words in subsequent years as they will have something to build on.

Why not set up an invitation to play using these ‘Farm Animals and their Young’ counting puzzles? Select those appropriate for your children (1-10 available) and allow them to match the number beside the adult with the corresponding number of young animals.
Each pair has a different way of connecting as a puzzle for the children to match and so even if they haven’t learnt what the number looks like yet, but are beginning to say the numbers in order, this can be a fun way to introduce them to new challenges. In addition each puzzle matches the adult and young and so this allows for another method of self checking.
Once the puzzles are complete, why not line the numbers up in order and count together? If your children would enjoy a further challenge, leave out a number and see if they can spot which one is missing from the sequence.
Puzzles could also be used as a fine motor control/counting activity if left uncut. Children could be given an appropriate number for their learning and encouraged to place objects on the baby animals, counting as they go.
In addition, each number is also written as a word. For our youngest children, this adds to learning about text in the environment and how it has meaning. Our oldest children may start to recognise the words and associate them with the numbers. This will be beneficial for when they begin to read and write these words in subsequent years as they will have something to build on.

A thunderstorm! Quick get round the farm and check on all the animals. They must be a bit frightened; they’re making a lot of noise!
The aim of this game is to encourage the link between images and specific repeatable sounds (Phase 1 Phonics/Letters & Sounds).
• Choose a game piece (either the tractors supplied or use counters/small world characters of your own)
• Roll the dice (choose dice with numbers appropriate for your children)
• Move your game piece along the board
• Make the right noise for the square you land on
• First to the finish is the winner!
(You may like to discuss the pictures with the children before playing the game and assign a sound to each image.)
