‘Our Favourite Animals’ Pictogram Chart pictures and banner designed for children to not only think about their favourite animal, but also realise that others may not have the same favourite. In addition, children begin to learn about simple graphs and charts. Ideal for use in a classroom, preschool, nursery or childminder setting. Children do not have to necessarily complete the activity at the same time, but a chart can be added to a display and individual children can add their own favourites at appropriate times. Simply place any of the eight large animals on the first page in a horizontal line to form the base of the chart and children can add their own favourite smaller animal above to create the vertical lines of a chart. The lengths of the lines can be compared and number of animals on each can be counted to find totals. Questions such as ‘How many children like tigers?’ may be asked. To really extend mathematical thinking, questions such as ‘How many more children like elephants than kangaroos?’ Animals included are: lion, kangaroo, chimpanzee, zebra, elephant, dolphin, tiger and turtle.

These A4 size mats can be laminated for use as playdough mats, or for letter writing practice with a whiteboard pen. Alternatively, they can be part of a loose parts activity.
The first stage is for children to hear the sound that each letter makes in the corresponding animal names. In this set the sounds are all at the beginnings of each word, i.e. the initial sounds (apart from fox which is the final sound to ensure the x makes the relevant sound). At this stage the children will enjoy moulding playdough onto the shapes of the letters and using loose parts lined up to make the letter shapes. This helps to familiarise children with the letters, recognise them and assign sounds to them.
During the final stage, children may express an interest in using mark making tools (a whiteboard pen if you have already laminated the sheet for playdough use) to start to practise fine motor skills and form the letters.

EDITABLE (non-editable also available) ‘Animals of the World’ themed Self Registration Display.
Includes:
Banner ‘Who is here today?’ - change this in the editable docx file version to say whatever works best for your setting
Days of the week signs (Monday-Sunday)
‘Here’ & ‘At home’ signs (2 different sizes to suit your display board/area)
Name signs for all of your individual children to enable them to sign themselves in by moving their name from the ‘At home’ column to the ‘Here’ column. Faded images behind children’s names gives them an added way to recognise their particular name card allowing for greater independence. 49 animals included!
This resource pack is easily adapted for any setting. For example the youngest children will get used to recognising their name & picture combination and moving it to the correct place with help. Children soon love the responsibility of doing this independently. Excellent tool for encouraging children to recognise their name before attending school and ideal for use in school to consolidate that knowledge and encourage independence.
Why not use this Self Registration Display in conjunction with our ‘Animals of the World’ peg labels pack? Both include the same 49 animals so that each child may have their own animal to recognise! They will be able to register themselves with the same animal as is on their peg or box!
(Non-Editable version has blank name cards for filling in manually after printing.)

Note: This resource is part of a themed set (15 Animals included). There are various sizes of mats/labels for different purposes within your setting. You may like to assign an Animal to each child within your group/bubble. They then know that whenever they see that Animal it is something of theirs e.g. place to sit, stand, peg to hang their possessions, box for their things, etc.
This resource is intended as a pack of versatile floor mats. Here are 2 possible uses… (Please obviously carry out your own risk assessments and consider health and safety implications for the children within your setting when deciding how to use our resources):
LINING UP - They could be adhered to the floor and placed 2 meters apart from each other starting at the door. Children know that they have a particular one that they start on (or are told to go to a particular one) and as the person in front moves forward to the next floor mat, they may then also move forwards to the next one.
SEATING MATS - Children could be assigned a particular Animal that they know to sit on. This could be a floor mat or a seating place at a table.
Other Animal themed resources you may like to use in conjunction with this include:
‘ANIMAL’ NAMED FLOOR MATS - Lining up or Seating
‘ANIMAL’ NAMED PEG LABELS - cut & stick
'ANIMAL' NAMED MEDIUM SIZED LABELS - cut & stick
‘ANIMAL’ COUNTING FLOOR MATS - Lining up or Seating
With regards to all of our ‘Social Distancing’ resources, we are by no means suggesting that this is what should be done with your particular group of children, but we have created a set of resources of which some you may find useful to aid elements of social distancing in your particular set up.

With regards to all of our ‘Social Distancing’ resources, we are by no means suggesting that this is what should be done with your particular group of children, but we have created a set of resources of which some you may find useful to aid elements of social distancing in your particular set up.

Note: This resource is part of a themed set (12 Minibeasts included). There are various sizes of mats/labels for different purposes within your setting. You may like to assign a minibeast to each child within your group/bubble. They then know that whenever they see that minibeast it is something of theirs e.g. place to sit, stand, peg to hang their possessions, box for their things, etc.
Cut and stick peg sized labels pack. Can also be used to label other small resources, boxes, etc. as for use by a particular child. Type children’s names into the editable docx file before printing or alternatively print the pdf file and write names in after printing.
Other Minibeast themed resources you may like to use in conjunction with this include:
‘MINIBEAST’ NAMED FLOOR MATS - Lining up or Seating
‘MINIBEAST’ FLOOR MATS - Lining up or Seating
'MINIBEAST' NAMED MEDIUM SIZED LABELS - cut & stick

These numbered floor mats are intended for use with older children within Early Years, mainly for lining up. (Please obviously carry out your own risk assessments and consider health and safety implications for the children within your setting when deciding how to use our resources):
LINING UP - They could be adhered to the floor and placed 2 meters apart from each other starting with number 1 at the door. Children know that they have a particular number that they start on (or are told to go to a particular number) and as the person in front moves forward to the next floor mat, they may then also move forwards to the next one. In addition to aiding social distancing, children may practise number recognition, counting and counting down (as opposed to up) as they wait for their turn to exit the room.
SEATING MATS - Children could be assigned a particular number/minibeast that they know to sit on. This could be a floor mat or a seating place at a table.

As many of you may be faced with reorganising your settings into smaller groups or ‘bubbles’, you may find our group charts useful. Originally created to group children within classes for guided reading groups etc, these charts/posters/displays can now be used to Group e.g. all ‘Reception Children’ into their bubble groups or organise an entire Nursery or Pre-School into groups. In the editable version simply change any text to suit your purpose. (In the Non-Editable version, the name boxes and Overview Chart title are left blank for you to fill in manually after printing.)
