Definition | What are ‘fish’?
(This description of the meaning of the word ‘fish’ is appropriate for 2-7 year olds)
Fish are amazing creatures that live in water and come in all shapes and sizes! Some fish are tiny like a little goldfish you might keep in a bowl, while others can be as big as a car, like a whale shark. They have shimmering scales that can be bright colours like orange, blue, and even rainbow! Fish can swim super fast using their fins and tails, and they breathe through special gills that let them take in oxygen from the water. Some fish live in oceans, while others can be found in rivers and lakes. Isn’t it fun to think about all the different kinds of fish swimming around in their watery homes?
