Strength-Based Progress Overview | Preschool 3-4 Years
A Professional Reflection Tool for EYFS Practice
A strengths-led overview supporting observation, reflection and meaningful next steps in a play-based EYFS environment.
(This document will be available for download by: March 31st 2026)
What this document is
The Strength-Based Progress Overview is a professional reflection document designed to support practitioners in noticing, celebrating and building upon what children can already do.
It is not a checklist, target tracker or levelling system. Instead, it provides a structured way for teams to reflect on children’s learning through a strengths-based lens, supporting responsive practice within a child-led, play-based curriculum.
The document is designed to be flexible in use. Some settings may choose to annotate it regularly; others may use it selectively for focus children, SEND documentation or professional discussions. All approaches align with good EYFS practice.
It is intended to support professional judgement, not replace statutory guidance.
