A comprehensive curriculum and pedagogy document for confident Preschool practice
(Available Now with Professional Membership)
What this document is
The Universal Continuous Provision (CP) Pack is a complete, year-round guidance document for Preschool (3–4 years), designed to support consistently high-quality continuous provision across the setting.
It explains what effective provision looks like, why it matters, and how adults support learning within it, across all core indoor and outdoor learning zones. Rather than being linked to a single theme, this is a universal reference document used every day, all year.
The pack supports practitioners to understand continuous provision as the primary method of curriculum delivery, not just an environment. It aligns with the EYFS Statutory Framework, Development Matters and the Characteristics of Effective Learning, while supporting professional judgement rather than replacing it.
Who this document is for
This document is particularly useful for:
Preschool practitioners working with children aged 3–4
EYFS teachers and early years educators
Setting leaders, managers and curriculum leads
New staff developing confidence in continuous provision
SEND leads and inclusion coordinators

What this document helps you do
This pack helps practitioners to:
Design and maintain high-quality continuous provision across all learning areas
Understand the learning purpose behind each provision zone
Support child-led learning through intentional adult interaction
Use consistent language, vocabulary and interaction prompts
Observe learning meaningfully using the OAP (Observe → Assess → Plan) cycle

How this fits within our Preschool curriculum framework
The Universal Continuous Provision Pack sits at the heart of our Preschool (3–4 Years) Curriculum & Pedagogy Framework.
It works alongside:
Preschool Medium-Term Theme Packs (6-week core themes)
Mini Theme Micro Packs (responsive two-week planning)
Practitioner Guidance Posters (child-led, adult-led, language, interaction)
Skills Progression Ladders
Curriculum Intent, Implementation & Impact documentation
Together, these documents reflect a clear philosophy:
Continuous provision is the curriculum
Adults teach through interaction, not interruption
Planning is responsive, inclusive and purposeful
Play is the context for deep learning
In practice: Many settings use this pack as a provision manual, staff training document, inspection reference, and daily planning support — ensuring that learning is rich, intentional and inclusive, regardless of the theme being explored.
This document is part of our EYFS Curriculum & Pedagogy Membership (Professional), which provides full access to age-specific curriculum frameworks, planning guidance, assessment tools and leadership support.
