What this document is

The Building & Construction Mini Theme Micro Pack is a short, flexible planning resource designed to be used alongside your core Preschool curriculum themes, not instead of them.

It supports children to explore construction through hands-on building, testing, revising and collaborating, using real materials and meaningful problems rather than product-focused outcomes.

This mini theme can be introduced when children naturally begin stacking, connecting, drawing buildings or imitating builders, or used deliberately to enrich provision, support STEM learning or provide short-term planning for holiday clubs.

It is intended to support professional judgement, not replace statutory guidance or core curriculum planning.
