Fun scavenger hunt game for in or outdoors!
Fairy cards (Minibeast Fairy, Water Fairy, Tree Fairy, Fruit Fairy, Flower Fairy & Earth Fairy) are designed to be hidden for children to find.
You may like to simply encourage your children to search until they find all six fairies.
Alternatively (or after), for an additional challenge, you may like to draw children’s attention to the colours, shapes and numbers on each card. Why not challenge your children to find the card with a specific shape on it? We have also included sets of cards with the relevant numbers, shapes and colours on within the pack, in order that you may select a card to give you a particular child or they may self select a challenge for themselves. These cards are ideal for children who require picture aids for non-verbal communication.
The cards also allow plenty of opportunity for communication and language development and observation skills looking at the key similarities and differences between each fairy.

These endless puzzles are perfect to show the cyclic nature of life cycles. For example in the first instance the frog puzzle may be placed in the order ‘frogspawn’, ‘tadpole’, ‘froglet’ and then ‘frog’. To demonstrate to children that the frog then lays frogspawn, the ‘frogspawn’ piece may be brought to connect with the ‘frog’ piece at the end and thus continuing the cycle. This process can continue for as long as you like, bringing the ‘tadpole’ piece to then end and then the ‘froglet’ piece and so on!

Use these ‘Life Cycle Cards’ to inspire children to think about the growth of frog, butterfly and chicken. Ideal for a sub topic within ‘Spring’. These versatile cards are made with a tab which can be folded before lamination in order to strengthen the final product. This also means that when turned over, the picture on the front can not be seen. Why not use these cards as part of a ‘Life Cycles’ display or invitation to play? Can the children match the correct parts of each life cycle and then place them in the correct order? Perhaps the frog, butterfly and chicken could be placed on the table face up and the rest face down. Children could take it in turns to turn over cards and place them next to the correct creature. The cards could also be used as a basis for communication and language development, first naming the cards and then describing. Have great fun with your children whilst all pretending to be minibeasts with this set of 8 Minibeast Activity Challenge cards.
Perhaps children could stand in a circle around the pile of cards and take turns to pick one for everyone to do. Cards could equally be shrunk down and placed on a key ring to take out on adventures or featured on an indoor or outdoor display board and referred to with everyone carrying out the activity on floor space in front. Once the children get to know the cards they will be able to relate the action to the picture without necessarily needing the card read to them...For example an adult may be able to simply hold up a card and everyone will be able to do the activity together! Why not set up an invitation to play using these ‘Minibeasts’ counting puzzles? Select those appropriate for your children (1-10 available) and allow them to match the number with the corresponding number of minibeasts. Each pair has a different way of connecting as a puzzle for the children to match and so even if they haven’t learnt what the number looks like yet, but are beginning to say the numbers in order, this can be a fun way to introduce them to new challenges. Once the puzzles are complete, why not line the numbers up in order and count together? If your children would enjoy a further game, leave out a number and see if they can spot which one is missing from the sequence. Puzzles could also be used as a fine motor control/counting activity if left uncut. Children could be given an appropriate number for their learning and encouraged to place objects on the minibeasts, counting as they go.

Engage your children in counting play by enlisting their help to create their own ‘Minibeasts’ puzzle set. Select those appropriate for your children (1-10 available) and allow them to colour the images and numbers. The puzzles may then be cut out (you can decide whether to work on scissor skills with your child or pre-cut the puzzles). Then encourage your children to have fun playing with their own puzzles!
