Childhood Day
- This day will not be taking place in 2026
Childhood Day is the NSPCC’s annual fundraising and awareness event in the UK, dedicated to helping keep children safe from abuse and neglect.
🧒 What Is Childhood Day?
Organised by the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children), Childhood Day is a national day of action that encourages individuals, schools, workplaces, and communities to come together to raise funds and awareness for child protection. The event supports the NSPCC’s services, such as Childline and their child protection helpline, which provide crucial support to children across the UK.
🚶♀️ The Childhood Day Mile
A central activity of the event is the Childhood Day Mile, where participants are encouraged to "move a mile" in any way they choose—be it walking, running, swimming, dancing, or even skipping. This initiative is designed to be inclusive and fun, allowing people of all ages and abilities to participate.
Schools can also get involved by signing up for the Schools’ Childhood Day Mile. Upon registration, schools receive a free welcome pack, including a Childhood Day Mile spinner to help students choose how to complete their mile. This activity not only promotes physical activity but also educates children about the importance of helping others.
🤝 How to Get Involved
There are several ways to participate in Childhood Day:
Move a Mile: Join the Childhood Day Mile individually or with friends, family, or colleagues.
Volunteer: Offer your time at NSPCC collection points or events in your community.
Fundraise: Organise your own fundraising activities, such as bake sales, sponsored events, or creative challenges.
Donate: Contribute directly to the NSPCC to support their ongoing efforts to protect children.
🌍 Why It Matters
Every year, thousands of children in the UK face abuse and neglect. By participating in Childhood Day, you help the NSPCC provide vital services and support to those in need. Your involvement can make a significant difference in ensuring every child has a safe and happy childhood.
