Our Autumn: Big vs Small Colouring Activity Sheets are incredibly versatile and can be used in a multitude of ways across various early years environments:
Creative Colouring Session:
Provide a selection of colouring tools and encourage children to colour in the big and small versions of the images.
This is a great way to develop pencil control and fine motor skills. You could even challenge them to use a different colour for the big and small versions to reinforce the concept.
Communication and Language:
Use the sheets as a prompt for discussion. Ask children questions like, "Which fox is the small one?" or "What colour are you going to use for the big pumpkin?"
Encourage them to use the words 'big' and 'small' as they talk about their work.
Hands-on Sorting Activity:
Print multiple copies of the sheets and cut out the big and small images. Children can then sort them into two piles: a 'big' pile and a 'small' pile.
Display Aid:
The completed and colourful sheets make a lovely addition to an autumn or maths display board, showcasing the children's artwork and their understanding of the concept of size.
