What’s included?
11 black-and-white colouring sheets featuring a diya (diva) lamp, lanterns, rangoli-style patterns, sweets, fireworks and mehndi-patterned hands. The pack combines nine landscape sheets with two portrait sheets.
Choose a design that interests the child
Larger shapes offer more open colouring spaces; the detailed patterns may appeal to children who enjoy smaller designs. Print a few choices and let children decide.
Print the pages you need
The download page offers PDF, Word and zipped JPEG versions. Use the PDF for a ready-to-print copy, or individual images when you only need a particular sheet.
Keep the celebration in context. Use the pictures alongside photographs, stories and conversation about how different families celebrate Diwali. Invite children to share experiences if they wish.
Simple ways to use the sheets
Offer a small choice
Set out a few sheets with suitable crayons or pencils. Children can colour a little or a lot, and blank paper can sit alongside for their own drawings.
Notice and talk
Look together at curved lines, repeated shapes and colour choices. Follow what the child notices, without needing every space to be filled or colours to match.
Share the finished picture
Children may like to explain their design, give it to someone or choose a place to display it. Use their own words if they would like a caption.
Which ages might enjoy this pack?
Choose sheets for Preschool, Reception or KS1 according to children’s interests and comfort with drawing tools. Some patterns are quite detailed. Offer larger tools or a larger print where helpful, and keep colouring optional.
How should I print the sheets?
Select the pages you want and use print preview to check the orientation. There are both landscape and portrait pages. Choose a setting that keeps the whole design within the printable area.
Can I edit the pictures in Word?
The Word version contains picture-based designs. It is useful for arranging or resizing the illustrations; the individual lines and pattern elements are not separately editable.
