Versatile Use:
The outlines can be coloured, painted, or collaged to create an individual and stunning poster design to be given to a loved one.
Equally, the entire poster (or elements from within it) could be cut and glued onto a folded piece of A3 card in order to make a large, impressive greetings card.

Our Valentine's Day: Art & Craft Message Templates are incredibly versatile and can be used in a multitude of ways across various early years and KS1 environments:
Art Activity Hub: Set up an art station with various materials: crayons, felt-tip pens, paints, glitter, fabric scraps, construction paper, wool, glue, and scissors.
Personalised Poster Design:
Children choose their favourite template from the 9 designs.
Encourage them to explore different art techniques:
Colouring: Filling in the detailed outlines with precision.
Painting: Using watercolours or finger paints for larger areas.
Collage: Tearing or cutting paper, fabric, or other materials and gluing them within the outlines or to create textures and patterns.
Once complete, these can be given directly as beautiful, individual poster gifts.
Creating Large Greetings Cards:
For a more elaborate project, provide large A3 card, folded in half.
Children can decorate the entire A4 template and then glue it onto the front of the A3 card.
Alternatively, they can cut out individual elements from the template (e.g., a specific heart or character outline they decorated) and arrange them creatively on the A3 card's front, or even inside with a personal message.
This provides a tangible, handmade gift for a loved one.
Fine Motor Development: The intricate outlines and varied art techniques (colouring, cutting, gluing) provide excellent practice for fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity.
Creative Expression & Choice: With 9 designs, children have the freedom to choose a template that resonates with them, fostering a sense of ownership over their artwork.
Discussion & Reflection: Encourage children to talk about who their poster/card is for and why they are making it. Discuss what messages they want to convey.

EYFS Framework:
Expressive Arts and Design: Children explore and use a wide range of media and materials, developing their own ideas and expressing creativity through their artistic choices. They enjoy creating and appreciating their own and others' artwork.
Physical Development (Fine Motor Skills): Colouring, painting, cutting, and gluing within the outlines strengthens hand muscles, improves pencil/brush grip, and enhances hand-eye coordination.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development: Creating a gift for a loved one fosters empathy, gratitude, and a sense of pride in their work.
Communication and Language: Children discuss their artistic process, choices, and the feelings associated with giving a gift.
-
KS1 Curriculum:
Art and Design: Children use drawing, painting, and sculpture (through collage) to develop and share their ideas, experiences, and imagination. They learn to use a range of materials creatively to design and make products (the posters/cards).
Design and Technology (indirectly): Designing a product for a specific purpose (a gift/card) and selecting appropriate materials.
English (Writing - indirectly): If children add their own written messages to the back of the poster or inside the card, it provides a meaningful context for writing.
PSHE (Relationships): Supports discussions around expressing affection, kindness, and appreciating family and friends.
